Background
My name is Jessica, and I live in Essex with my two gorgeous cats in my newly acquired home! Now that I’m on the housing ladder, I’ve happily transitioned into homebody status, and I love to kick back with a good book or a gaming console in hand.
I graduated with a Bachelors in Graphic Design back in 2014, inspired by an early appreciation for book and video game cover art, of all things. But I quickly learned that illustration was decidedly not my forte, and pivoted into web design instead.
Web design will always be a passion of mine, but I’ve found it extremely rewarding to work within product design. I love the variety in my current role at TSB, from delivering new product features, to engaging with strategy to shape the user experience, and advocating for accessibility improvements through everyday design activities to sprint reviews with developers.
My values
User-centred approach
This aligns with my commitment to inclusive design. Before implementing an interface change or new feature, I assess whether it meets the emotional needs of users and validate it through user testing.
Results-driven design
Iterate, validate, repeat! At TSB, we rigorously test everything before it goes live to ensure it meets our internal comprehension standards. Any changes to the design system must be validated through user testing first—and I am strict in enforcing this.
Open design culture
I’ve enjoyed working with teams to share my design expertise, enhance our workflows, and foster cross-functional collaboration.
Be empathetic
Everyone faces their own struggles, so I strive to meet people halfway and offer them grace. It can be challenging at times, but I adopt a "today is a new day" mindset to stay focused on delivering quality design.
Question everything
I’ve truly enjoyed leading peer reviews and facilitating knowledge-sharing sessions within my teams. Advocating for better UX and inclusivity in design means asking tough questions, and sometimes even questioning if new projects are going to deliver a benefit for the end user.
Stay passionate
If you don’t enjoy what you’re doing or where you are—move on. Life is too short, and I choose to spend my time with teams I appreciate and on projects I love.

Outside of work
I confess, I’m a bit of a gamer
I’m currently playing Dave the Diver, Final Fantasy 16, Helldivers, and Bioshock Infinite. When commuting or in need of a quick pick-me-up, I always return to my childhood favourites; the Animal Crossing or Pokémon series.
While I have a soft spot for traditional ‘big TV’ console games, I’ve recently ventured into the world of handheld desktops with the Rog Ally X—and I’m loving it.
I have a newfound love for thrillers and character studies
Fun fact: I used to run a virtual book club on
If you’re up for a fun whodunnit, I recommend reading The Decagon House Murders. But if you’re down for a why did they do it, it’s The Secret History all the way.
And I’m attempting to run an allotment
Gardening is hard work, let me tell you. I’ve had an allotment for 2 years now and it’s been really gratifying to grow food from seeds to crop.
It’s also spurred on a love for cooking as I’ve attempted to pickle vegetables, make my own jams and sauces, and I’ve even spent 4 hours making gnocchi from a bucket of potatoes! However, no one prepares you for the highs and lows of the yearly slug-pocalypse, or the heartbreak of caterpillars pillaging your brussell sprouts.
