The Project
As part of TSB’s ongoing commitment to protect customers from fraud, I’ve worked on an initiative internally called Card Controls. Rolling out as four phases, it comprises of the following:
- Add to Apple/Google wallet
- Mastercard Click to Pay integration
- Viewing card information and PIN
- Temporarily freezing card(s)
- Reporting a lost or stolen card
- Setting card controls (gambling, blocks, and limiting contactless, international, or online payments)
This feature has been well received and has luckily come to the rescue of myself and my mother when we were both (separately) victims of fraud. One of the key successes of this feature is in limiting the anxiety and loss of control when fraud happens; once you log into the app it’s easy to quickly freeze a card you’ve lost or know to be compromised, and then immediately issue a replacement in app without needing to call up customer services.
Setting new standards
Many of these journeys introduced new patterns into the Orbital design system and stretched the scope of our existing components.
